Probably means nothing but… Sometimes cars are damaged during ocean transit, or during the Roll-on - Roll-off process. If that happens, PORT has to repair or replace the damaged parts before they can send the unit to retail. No telling how much interchangeability there is between current 2012 Prius parts and the 2012 PHEV parts. But if it was a rear lens that got smashed, for example, and there's no part stream for rear lenses yet, then maybe PORT would have to order that part from Japan. But that's an extreme worst case. Not saying that's what happened in your case, but something like that or some other work to be done on your car might explain the delay.
There was a question in another thread about ships heading to Benicia. If I'm reading this right, Pyxis Leader is due in Benicia on April 16 at 10 am PDT, according to information posted on April 5, so it probably left around then. Texas Highway went out of AIS range of Japan yesterday afternoon (Pacific time) and is due in Benicia April 21 at 5 am PDT.. I think my PIP is on Texas Highway but haven't heard from my dealer yet. Anyone else on one of these?
Boston area. Website shows In US Port. Dealer says it's in freight status and probably won't be in this weekend.
I believe the trucking company is Toyota Logistics but they may have subcontractors. Freight or F status means it's on the truck. CBU Cargo Billing Unit? Assigned a spot on the ship most likely. London Highway Destination: PORTLAND ETA: 2012-04-23 07:00
Andrey (Putnam Toyota) was off yesterday and today, but hopefully I'll find out tomorrow. Did you ask your dealer?
I heard from my dealer that my pip is on the Pyxis Leader... Erica from Toyota told me that this boat is going from Japan then to Benecia from there on to Long Beach...Does this sound right to anybody?
That seems to be the circuit. About 15-17 days on the Pacific, a day in Benicia, then another to Long Beach. A day in LB, then back to Japan. Load, repeat.
from my dreadful expirience, the longest wait (deadly uknown) is to await the magic "F" word. Only the sales manager was able to tell me the date when it shows on the dealers lot. only they have means to track it down. either because they're too busy, or toyota pays them very little for the effort. Even you know the car is in the port, that means squat. It could stay there for 2 weeks, like in my case. You have to raise hell, to know where your car is. do it. if you want to have piece of mind. Now that it is over for me. I have to read the manual. Japan's engineers are not stupid, but the web designer, who put the manual together, is absolutely is. It is all scattered in little pieces. What is their thinking behind it? One thing at a time? tried to charge it today in the garage. blown the circuit breaker in 2 minutes....
Morning, Has anyone received there car from the New Century 2 Ship? I was told it would be in on Tuesday. Anyone else? Not sure why it takes so long from port to dealer. I been on this list since last summer, Im so done. At this point, the weather is nice and Im ready to get my new car.
Mike, last night I received the E-mail from Toyota that said it's being shipped to the dealer, and my PIP was on the New Century 2. I believe I remember reading posts from other people who said that some of them didn't get the e-mail for a while and some said their dealer called and told them it was in before they got the notice.
Andrey took time from his vacation week to message me yesterday. My PIP that was loaded on 4/8 is indeed on the Texas Highway, due in Benicia on April 21. Now the next question is whether I'll be compulsive enough to watch it coming through San Francisco Bay. Hopefully it'll be on schedule and that'll happen in the wee hours of the morning, so it won't be an issue.
Having been told that my car was likely on the Sunbelt Spirit, by surfing the TUBES... I found she was headed for the Panama Canal. Since the Panama Canal has webcams at both ends, I says to myself, I says, says I, Maybe I can see the ship my car is on. Sure enough, not only did I get to see it, I recorded it. I loves me the tubes!
