Four Drivers, four Toyota vehicles, four build shops, four charities...

We wanted to ensure you, the forum community, are the first to know about the Toyota Racing Dream Build Challenge. You’ll no doubt understand why we’re excited about this contest!

It pits top Toyota drivers from the NHRA and NASCAR in a build challenge for the 2012 SEMA show. For this contest, the winners are the drivers’ hand-picked charities. This is a great opportunity for you to get an inside look at four build shops — racing against the clock — to get their vehicles onto the SEMA floor.

NASCAR driver Clint Bowyer is taking his Prius to RK Performance Center in Charlotte for a “tekk”nological make-over. NHRA Top Fueler, Antron Brown has enlisted the Toyota Racing Technical Center in Torrance, CA to build out a Family Dragster Sequoia. Driver of the #18 M&M’s Camry, Kyle Busch, will give a once-stock Camry the “Rowdy” Edition treatment at Detroit Speed, Inc. in Mooresville, NC. Finally, funny car rising star, Alexis DeJoria tackles an off-road Tundra pre-runner. This Tundra will push the team at Racer Engineering in San Jacinto, CA to the limits.

Watch the builds come together by liking Toyota Racing’s Facebook page, subscribing to our YouTube channel and following in-depth forum posts on this very thread. In the 10 days leading up to the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, we’ll be looking to you to pick the winning build. Voting begins on October 20th on Toyota Racing Dream Build on Facebook | Facebook.

I understand customizing the camry and pre-runner.

I don't really get the prius or yukon. Are we going to get another thing like this

A slow prius with lots of extra non-fuctional parts and an upgraded suspension?

Yukon, Sequoia its all the same to me, if your going to try to pimp a monstrosity class SUV and sell it to the rapper want to bes its gotta be a 'scalade:) For a fast car, I can't think of anything stupider than something big and heavy with a high center of gravity.

Ok, there may be a car that is sillier to put a body kit on and that is the prius, they just add weight and don't improve aerodynamics. If you don't like the way a prius looks, then you shouldn't buy the car. They can trick out the tires/wheels/suspension, those can all be improved. You can probably put in better interior parts and sound system. Tunings a hsd, without toyota's help to get more power, is very difficult. Its a bad car for toyota to highlight in sema, though not as bad as a sequoia.
