There is no evidence that anyone at Toyota in Japan ever visits PriusChat. The American marketing department makes announcement s here but they may never read other posts.

(If you were writing to Toyota, it would be in Japanese)

I think the poll is premature since we don't know the price which could greatly affect one's views.

I agree but in the AutoBlog article Toyota says they closely read PriusChat.

Let's see if they followed the song from last year-
...hmm guess I left out huge trunk and 5 seats...thinking that was a given

Add a "no spare tire" option to the vote? Though with the option being irrevocably phased out even on the regular gen4, maybe it's a lost cause? I voted "it's only a 4 seater", fwiw.

Now you can vote 2 things!

I don't think it's premature. This is from what we know of what was announced. If this is a prototype ready for production there may be still time to change something if we speak up!

Think about PiP 1st gen, moved chargeport to the back (actually, I don't know why there...) Consolidated to one battery and decreased kWH a bit to flatten the trunk bed.

    merged.

We'll ad price as soon as we know hah.

Ok, so if it's a 4 seater and only $1k more than the gen 4...yes I see your point, I would want it but it would still be less utility.

Here's our 2006 back seat...rest my case...although maybe there could be a child seat adapter for the middle?

...suffice it to say that occupant does not weigh 250-lbs (that someone suggested Toyota needs to add extra steel girders to the Prime to hold the car intact if there is 5 seats).

Teach me how to be a worm or do the worm for us hah! I think we could easily help Toyota especially representing a large family (right now with two Prii) that works from far away and lives in the East Coast.

We are definitely looking for a larger vehicle and we've almost ruled out the Highlander - but the Prius taught us what it's like to be efficient so it's hard to go back.

New engine for the Sienna is interesting, but eyes are definitely on the FCA Pacifica. As for the new PiP, did buy mine used but was looking to upgrade to more EV with Prius capability. But because of the loss of 5 seats (we can't ALL travel in it anyway, but we do split up often) it's on a no-go for me.

Ultimately the new PiP feels like a cheap way (and we'll see on the price also) to [email protected]$$ grab some Tesla market share (yeah right), some Chevy Volt, and some Energi.

Granted all marketshares are kind of small, but the PP is reaching in all those directions while compromising what it was originally...a Prius family, eco friendly car!

We (me and you) are looking for a vehicle looks like a Prius v higher in the back to give back the space lost to the batteries. I already have a Chrysler mini-van variant with the large empty underfloor space intended for the stow-n-go seats...will be interesting to see the Pacifica plug-in minivan with that space filled with Li batts, Mind you I have rear bucket seats there too except I have 3rd row.

Prius was a sedan for 5 years. For gen-2, it became a hatchback with midsize seating. With Prime, it is still a hatchback with midsize seating.

True, it doesn't offer a place for a 5th person. But then again, families grow up. Isn't it trying to continue to appeal to an audience that's changing?

Retaining all of the same aspects of the past means not attempting to adapt to not kiss the existing or reaching out to appeal to the new. That sounds like a lose-lose scenario.

Are you saying that some people will be 'won over' by the storage bin vs 5 seat? The other changes are welcome (though it seemed cheaply done). Things that just don't make any sense.

IE - and I'm not saying any of these guys are particularly pros at this...
GM - Volt 1 vs Volt 2 went to 5 seater, common compliant was that it wasn't.
Ioniq, Fusion Energi, Tesla etc are now all 5 seaters, and Toyota is trying to appeal for the nice console crowd?

I haven't seen the trunk of the Ioniq, but for now the trunk space is smaller than the previous generation.

Is Toyota giving more % usable battery? Didn't Volt do this?

Prius now appealing to the luxury crowd? Isn't that Lexus brand? And is that what the middle console means?

Somehow all these other companies are improving, Toyota seems to be changing the PiP altogether (not just looks).

I welcome all other changes, I've been on the forefront of saying Toyota should improve electric mileage also. But the other changes are kind of boggling...Really, a huge tesla-like screen running...Entune!?

I read somewhere that the solar option would be available here, but I don't know - that would seem interesting as well and I think would make more money than MIrai by bringing that option over...

I still don't get it why they didn't split the battery in two,it may have been a 4 seater due to weight after all,but at least there would have been quite a bit more of trunk space !
I am sure they could have done it that way .
The more I see the Prime the more I like it,especially how they integrated the turn signals in the back and those great adaptive high beam headlights .
Toyota allready has confirmed that we won't get the 11.6 touch-screen instead of that we are getting an 8 inch .
If there only wasn't 6.7 inches loss of trunk space hight compared to the regular gen. 4....
