Got an owner's survey in the email just this morning...and I've had my Prius for 6 1/2 years, so this isn't a new owner's survey thing.

The survey asked about all sorts of potential problems I may or may not have had in the past 12 months. If I did hit a check box it asked for details about that particular problem. Seems this is a preemptive effort to address customer concerns that maybe they didn't follow up on after the first few months of ownership.

Now Toyota doesn't even know that you don't have a new Toyota. Boy, these guys can't get anything right.

    :D

Sorry. I just couldn't resist trying to put a bad spin on this good thing.

I got a birthday call from my dealer, asking if he could "help" with anything. I'm still waiting on a big cash discount to go see him about an upgrade.

About time. Suspect that the rest of us will be getting pinged soon. Wonder if Toyota will have enough sense to send everyone (Prius owners) some simple low cost thankyou 'gift'? For example, something like a Prius Owners T-Shirt. A little low cost goodwill could go a long way.

Except for those of us on the black list. Erica probably black listed me back during the Detroit period. I should never have started that thread about her.

I can tell you that that idea has been proposed by someone Toyota marketing often listens to. That doesn't mean it will happen, but I can tell you that I think it's a good idea for a number of reasons. Foremost it's a good 'thank you' to prior buyers/current owners for sticking with them, and secondarily it's inexpensive, repeat advertising by the best possible medium...satisfied customers.

A tee shirt wouldn't do much for me.

Toyota could kill two birds with one stone by offering some thing free,
    or nearly so, that contributes to the long term reliability of the Prius;
they get to brag about the reliability, I get the benefit of greater
reliability at lower cost.... I'm gonna tell all my friends about it too!

*Lets say a free "transmission" oil change for folks with less than
    100K miles.

    * A free converter cooling fluid change and pump replacement for
folks with over 100K miles... big miles, big thank you gift!

We all know that if Toyota sent these out by way of a paper certificate
-- valid for one full calendar year, non-transferrable --, about half would
go unopened, or be lost before use... Toyota spends far less $$$.

I bet they'd end up spending a lot MORE money. TMS has to pay the dealers for time and materials for your 'free' service. Mass produced T-shirts they can get for a couple bucks each and when you wear it you don't have to say a word and you're advertising for Toyota. Ball caps work, reusable grocery bags, ink pens, thumb drives, all are relatively inexpensive options that will please most customers/owners and offer ongoing advertising value.

    Evan,

I'm feeling somewhat testy tonight... I feel a cold coming on.

Well, in that Mother Toyota made it very difficult to debadge the hood
and lift gate Circle-T emblems due the !@#$% mounting/alignment
holes, I do free advertising everytime I drive Amapola around
Ballamer or up and down the coast from Maine to Florida.

So, maybe I'll wish a smaller wish...

How about an oil/filter, cabin filter change with synthetic oil if I so
    choose?

I'm sorry to hear about your testes....

Unless your car drips Toyota "T"s it won't be much in the way of advertising... Just saying that I think a little good will is forthcoming (or would be a good idea anyway), but I think it's going to be something mutually beneficial.

And I do appreciate what you're saying about the badging...

I got the email, too. I tried to think of any issue I could, just to be helpful, but wondered if I was being too nit-picky. I did mention that I had a hard time getting the shifter to really go into drive and not reverse or into reverse and not drive, but I made sure to mention that I'm getting better at shifting over time.

    I don't need a Toyota T-shirt. I am not a walking billboard.

You would think that Toyota could also pair the logo'd item giveaways with some sort of popular road show this spring/summer. For example, what about sending some of the plug-in Priuses on a road show? I suspect that many of us Prius fans would like the chance to see (and drive) a Plug-in Prius, plus pick up a (free) Prius t-shirt. Toyota must have a few other cars that they could also show off. Maybe I'm in the minority on this one, but I think that Toyota's passive response to the SA problem isn't the smartest move. Yes Toyota, it will hit your precious bottom line, but you need to start thinking about rescuing the brands image (before it's too late) by spending a little cash.

I tossed ours a couple days ago. The cars's fine ... and the questions on these things .... they always frame answers into the super narrow pigeon holes that don't necessarily address what I'd want to say about real issues anyway.

Oh geez... it didn't involve sheep did it?

I vote for reusable grocery bags!

I got mine too a couple days ago. There was only one item that I could comment on. And it was minor at that. The car has a slight brake pull to the left sometimes. Been that way since it was new, but I never did talk to the dealer about it.

I would have the dealer check the wheel alignment.

Agree - here is another suggestion: Prius water bottles (like the ones handed out at some of the Prius Gen III intro events). Great for advertising as most people use their water bottles all over the place).
