A concern that I've had for a while now ... whether it be in China or Japan, there are cities with concentrations of semi-conductor plants. If one of those cities suffers major damage, the global supply of semi-conductors (chips and circuit boards) could be severely impacted.

"The focus of the magnitude 7.0 tremor was 10 kilometers underground." That is only 6.25 miles. Uhhhh ... that seems too shallow. This figure must be incorrect. Think of something that is 6 miles from your house, draw a line in your brain, now tilt that line down until it is vertical. Yeah, that's not very deep. So, I went to the USGS website Latest Earthquakes M3.0+ in the USA - Past 7 days. wow! I can't believe that some earthquakes are that shallow. Seems odd. Yeah.. so you can have a strong earthquake (e.g. 7.0) but if it's 100km below, it won't be as damaging as the 10km one.
