Really? I was. In fact I'd hoped the 2010 Gen III would have 'em as an option. So it's another lesson in patience.

Does anyone know when the official test program that has been underway and is currently underway will be culminating? Doesn't someone here have one of the test Prius PHVs, or know someone that does? Any mention of when the program culminates, and the final data analysis will occur?

Great question, Rybold.. I would LOVE to hear all the "real world" numbers that the PHV had over the last year or so...

 

I doubt we will ever see final data analysis, as the shipping car will likely change from the test cars. We should see on going data. There are only three cars currently being reported, but here is the data

When is this thing hitting dealers now?

 

Official announcement in Sept.. rollout in "early Spring, 2012" is what is my understanding.. but only in a few states : (

and go figure.... LA is not one of them LOL...

 

Interesting, majority of the trips are within 5 km.

 

Someone once posted a link to Prius sales by state. I think it might have been up to 2009. LA, umm, wasn't high up the list.

But, as posted above you can buy from out of state. You might enjoy traveling somewhere wanting a Prius won't make you feel like an alien.

If I'm reading this correctly, does it represent that most of the time the EV range only lasts for 0-2 km?

 

My trips will all be well within the 13 mile range...

 

Be aware that A/C use will shorten range. To balance that, efficient driving will lengthen range (and reduce electricity bills).

If they're all really short you could always buy an electric motorcycle instead. I'd suggest an electric scooter, but, I'm thinking an electric motorcycle might be an easier sell in, shall we say, image-conscious LA.

 

Or an iQ EV would be ideal.
