My Prius just turned 30,000 miles. I purchased a set of Michelin Energy Savers to replace my Ecopia EP20s that were shot. I then took my car to Toyota for a wheel alignment to make sure the new tires wear correctly. The service manager came out and asked if they can do a free brake fluid flush so Toyota can study my fluid. I decided it would be good information for Toyota and free brake fluid for me!

Are they supposed to publish the results? Or is this something they do to collect data?

Wow that's cool usually they just want to study your wallet. Maybe its a whole new tact to upsell you like...oh upon inspection we found your brake fluid has moisture in it and your wallet is leaking cash & credit cards. $399 please.

    Let us know.

They told me it will be used in a study since the Prius does not have a brake fluid service interval. I don't think I will get any results.

Not much of an upsell since Toyota is paying for it. I'm sure the data is for internal use only. We'll see a result if they adjust the fluid change interval.

This is interesting because the ct200h has a 3-yr/30k interval for brake fluid.

Regardless, I flushed mine at 35,000 miles and plan to do it again soon.

It does here; every three years.

Highly doubt Toyota uses customer cars for wear/mechanical R & D. Especially in this country.
