    I'll admit that really cold weather was a thought, but wrapping it in something like Saran wrap (with air holes) sounded more interesting.

    Yep. It was right on the edge of outright wheelspin. As another test of the traction control, I can pull off the highway so one side is on pavement and the other side is on gravel. If I hit the gas, I can feel/hear the brake being modulated on the rear wheel that is beginning to spin.

    When the brake applies it's pretty noisy, I'd guess the pump/accumulator system more than the actual brake as they've never made noise. My co-worker with the 2006 Range Rover HSE has a similar sort of traction control system, and it's silent.
