We have between months and 5 years to get this fixed. How will it play out with the US federal government going bankrupt? SS, government pensions, state governments, local governments, school districts, how will it play out?

For one, you can get your revenge on China - defaulting on the debt will be a financial murder-suicide. The effect will be global, so most people are sincerely hoping it never happens.

If and when it does, there'll be the usual chaos and violence that accompanies the end of empires. Stay mobile. Pay off your debts, sell your assets for cash and convert it into a stable currency. Don't come to my place - it'll be full up long before you get here. :)

What will the stable currency be? Gold? Oil? Corn? Wheat?

And who started this "economic war?" Our politicians, the criminals on Wall Street, and big biz threw us under the bus 40 f***ing years ago

We will face lower standards of living, generation after generation, just like central and south american nations do. Nothing dramatic, just expected somewhat lower standard of living for your kids and their kids

It won't fall off a cliff overnight

Those who inherited wealth/money will probably feel the most abused. Too bad so sad

I'm going to second Canadian dollar. We're sitting on more natural resources than we know what to do with

Over the past 5 years, Canada has received praise for how well the economy is run, and how well the banks are run. Even more amazing from a Minority government. It's a good thing to have a Minority gov, they are kept in line

Let's hope a Liberal/NDP/Bloc Coalition government with our imminent Federal election doesn't f*** that all up

That article only proves you have to look into the future and plan for the future. Americans are somewhat myopic and tend to look into the past, the "glory" days of the 50's - 60's

Well, they're done. Long gone. Time to plan for the future

Agreed. And by 'future', I'd suggest something further off than the usual timeframes. As in, waaaay beyond next quarter, next year's annual report, and even beyond the next decade. I'll make a bold prediction that the nations that can see themselves successful without oil, without a large disparity between rich and poor, without a climate of fear - and show us how to get there from here - will be the next economic superpowers.

It was longer ago than that Amigo. As I am sure that you can relate....and as with my other video, I don't expect anyone to watch this one and learn anything. Too bad.

So. How about that weather? Did anyone see the "guilty dog video"? I hear the Cubs will be making a comeback this year.

I'm planning for the future. I think I'll go to the bakery for a donut this morning.

He may be, but then he goes off on foreign policy and, well, everything else and comes off as an uneducated Palin-wannabe buffoon. He's said a great number of things that make him unelectable. One last night (?) about how he'd only go to Libya if we could get their oil. And he's now on the birther train[wreck].

The US is really entering desperate times. The paradigm is shifting inn Washington and every state capitol because the well is dry. In April of 2007 who would have bet on Barack Obama?

As long as Joe Sixpack can have the occasional beer or toke, nobody will give one s***. Starting with this generation, we will have lower standards of living into the future.

Since it won't happen overnight, nobody will be shocked. If you throw a frog into boiling water it will jump out. If you slowly increase the temperature from the ambient setpoint, the frog will let itself boil alive

    We really aren't any different

In the NBC interview, one of his policies was to take over the oil fields. He also misstated Article II Sec I of our Constitution in a way that makes Sen. John McCain ineligible to be President.

I foresee yet another Trump 'deal' where he partners with us to share most of the risks, while most of the profits are reserved to other entities wholly owned by him.
