That was actually a very useful description. He's exactly right about the effect on other industries.

And I need one of those drain unclogging things.

    Also.... practice babies?

You weren't supposed to listen to the end.... ;)
    Yeah......it's a "Home Ec" thing.
I'm afraid that it probably doesn't translate well into a socialist country.

    Yes.

If only I lived somewhere where I had a Second Amendment Right to blow up my drains.

Just.... Where would you even find the practice babies? And what did you do with them afterwards? I liked the "It's just a rental" comment.

I do sometimes listen to Wait, Wait... Don't Tell Me: it's on on a Sunday morning Sydney time (I think) on NPR stations that I can listen to through Simple Radio. So I'll sometimes listen while I'm cleaning the kitchen or something.

For news comedy, though, it's hard to beat BBC Radio Scotland's Breaking The News. You may, however, need subtitles. We sometimes listen to it in the car: my kids are practicing for their visit to Glasgow for my Aunt and Uncle's wedding anniversary next month.

They make them in San Antonio. Everything's supposed to be bigger and better in Texas.

Wait Wait is my all time favorite NPR show, but I work when it's on. This was way too funny! Now I have to see if WBEZ or KERA has a simulcast that I can stream later.

Yes, it's a bit of a shock that we are.

I believe the Dear Leader proposed rather less (and implemented rather more), possibly as a result of not having a clue what he's on about.

Donald Trump's tough guy theatrics no match for China's economic weapons

Compared to the scale and the power of China's vast program of investment, Trump's tariffs are a mere trifle, and more likely to damage the US than China. Trump tweeted last week that his administration had asked China for a "One Billion Dollar reduction in their massive Trade Deficit with the US". Only one billion in a deficit of nearly $US400 billion?

"I was thinking, how could it be only $1 billion?" Li Yong, of the China Association of International Trade, told The Financial Times. "Then I heard he got the number wrong."

Indeed. The President meant to say $100 billion. Trump also got his deficits and surpluses backwards. The Chinese have said they'll have a look at it. It must be hard for them to keep a straight face.

They have bigger land mass, and drive Cowboy Pimpmobiles, but that's about it.

Strangely, I've not seen anyone wearing a cowboy hat. Just trucker gimme caps. Fortunately, no MAGATs.

There was a long-running documentary series about Texas on TV in the 80s, called Dallas. Everyone wore big hats, so it must be true. Just because you're there doesn't mean you know more than these documentary makers. Unless it was all a dream.

He is a very peculiar shape.

Big Tex creeps me out. Maybe this year, I'll get up enough nerve to take the DART down there. I don't want to drive since it's in a scary neighborhood.

JR's ranch is not too far from here.

And I don't know why they call corn dogs "corny dogs" here.

    Texas is weird.

I actually made it down one year. I was on training in Fort Worth and we drove the rental car to the state fair.

Yup had a corn dog too.
