image.jpeg so I accidentally tapped into a bumper at a traffic light at under 2 mph and it causes a chip. Any recommendation to a solid and affordable body shop to fix this chip? LOS ANGELES, CA .
It's less than an inch wide. There are no dents . Please advise

I can't imagine that bringing it to Grenada MS would be economical. I would put your location in the title.

Jimbo, maybe you're viewing on a phone? His avatar reads Venice, CA.

Regarding a chip like that, on plastic, I would just buy the touch up paint, do the best I could, not look too close. A body shop would be way too expensive, and it will happen again.

Google "bumper repair". You will see a boat load of people who can fix this at a reasonable price.

That is definitely a job for touch up paint. A body shop can do that for you really well, but I'm pretty sure they'd otherwise repaint the whole bumper, and that's a lot of work for a tiny scratch like that. Your car will get more songs like that on the bumper, and if you're that particular about it, you should install a "clear bra," because there's otherwise no way to prevent it.

There are mobile bumper touch up/repair companies. Google for L.A.

most of the places i contacted are charging way more for such a chip. alot of quotes i am getting are $450 to 600. that sounds pretty high, thats why im hoping if any of you have a solid expereince with a strong body shop that can give a more reasonable quote?

I find if I go looking for something and it's not happening, it's time to back off and consider why it's not happening. Minor rear bumper dings are the most common damage going. At last count ours has got maybe 3? I just rub down the rough edges, get out the touch up paint.

The kind they have up here is a kinda useless touch "pen", it works by pressing the nib a few times, paint gradually wicks out and you apply it. The other end has clearcoat, who's sole purpose appears to be lifting the previously applied color coat, so I don't use it. Or just use it, but not both.

The thing is, if you spend $450 to $600, or even if you find a lower price, say around $300, about a week later you're going to get another ding, back to square one. It's better to just do a "Mr Wolf" (Pulp Fiction character) repair, not perfect, won't stand up to close inspection, but good enough. :)

IMO, its just a ding. Get over it and drive it. Yours is not the only car out there without a ding or mark on it.

No offense, but your effort here on PC shows your desperation. It is a material thing, and nothing else. Don't worry about it. Save your money and go buy yourself a nice steak dinner instead. Better yet, take the other significant one in your life out for something special. Life is too short to worry about a ding in a bumper or a fender.

actually, dorunron before jumping into conclusions. its not my car, i bumped into a car and the lady really wants to take it to a body shop and not just let bygones be bygones. if it were up to me, i would let it go, she isnt, so i want this to be resolved and over with

Ah, I thought there was a disconnect, between the white bumper picture and your silver avatar. This sounds expensive, groan.

Okay, my bad. I owe you an apology. It would have been nice though if you would have been more clear on the facts before now. I would not have said anything. I have said too much now. I am going to go back into my corner and put on a dunce cap.

Hope you can get the situation resolved where everyone is happy.

So, when my vehicle was rear ended, the at fault driver said: " Talk to my insurance company."

That is one reason you have insurance. Let your insurance company handle it. ymmv

She probably wants the $600 and she isn't going to fix it. You're probably best off letting your insurance co handle it. You pay them more than that much in premiums every year, so it's not much of a deal to them.

That's the law down here, if your insurance co adjuster offers a $600 check for that, you can spend it any way you want.

@H.S. , I've modified your title so hopefully it'll get more hits. Let me know if you prefer to revert it back to the original.
