I'll be towing a small camper for two months behind a 2012 Prius. I can move some items into the Prius to reduce the trailer's weight from about 600 to 350 pounds. Might that be preferable, say, when driving in areas with steeper road grades?

Weight of trailer at 600 pounds or less will be fine as long you take it slow on the downhill curves at freeway speeds... The other concern that I have direct experience with is that the tongue weight of a Prius hitch is only about 200 pounds and I drove my 200 pound wood chipper on my hitch with a custom mount for 2k miles and bent the back of the hitch down 3/4 of an inch on that trip due to a stretch of Freeway that was really bouncy. So the more you can load your gear at the far back of the trailer to reduce tongue weight the better...

Just the sort of information I need! Thank you.
