    - WARNING DISTURBING VIDEO -

OMG! It appears to just come off the tracks, too fast? 77+ killed 140+ injured, train engineer survives. What a gut wrenching helpless feeling watching this video.

Last article I read said something about he was doing 120 around a curve that had a speed limit of 80.

    Sounds like lawsuits to me.

Huh? Why are you trying to make some ridiculous joke about a human tragedy?

    118 in a 50 mph zone, really?
Seems to be a fine demonstration of Newtons First Law!
I can't believe a real "Engineer" would hit a curve 68 miles too fast.
Hope the engine had a "Black Box" recorder!

They're all blaming the driver in the press over here and to some extent he is to blame as he was at the controls BUT he had over 30 years experience, the train had just come out of an automated speed control area after a long high speed straight. How does one know the speed limit on a track? Is there a speed sign like on a road? If so, are you not likely to miss it when doing 120 mph or coming from a 180 mph zone? Blink and you miss half a mile! The train had just come out of a tunnel and it was an hour from sun set. Was the sun in his eyes?

Surely with high speed rail at speeds of 200 mph or more you NEED some safety backup systems. What works at 75 mph won't work at 175 mph. There were also two drivers in the train. Was one asleep? Were they both asleep? Was the driver so used to the computer taking over at the required sections that he just wasn't taking notice?

Think there are more questions than answers at this point.
