Can someone translate these numbers I took from the dashboard of a 2012 Prius Plug In? I went and test drove it today.

Second question: is an extended warranty from Carmax any good/recommended? The car has 37k miles at the moment.

I am in a CARB state, so I know the hybrid components are covered for 10 years/150,000 miles.

This pic is of the prices for the extended warranty sold by Carmax:

    looks like lifetime stats.

the ev/hv % / miles are recorded when in ev or hv mode.

the 1,956 kWh is how much plug charging the car has received, not including charging losses.

the 625 gallons is a rough estimate of total gas used.

fuel saved is a standard calculation of miles driven in ev instead of gas.

    Thanks Bisco!

So this person used over 500 gallons for just the month of July and over 600 gallons of gas just for the month of June? That is a ton of fuel!!!

    Am I understanding that right?

i don't think so. i don't bother with that screen, but it might be mpg's per month. if it is, i'm not sure if it's hv mpg's, or total including electricity, which is how the car reports it and totally useless imo.
the only way to get actual mpg's is at the pump.

Ah, those are miles in which gasoline was used.

Wouldn't those be total miles driven in those months? It averaged 80 mpg in July, I suspect a good chunk of that was in electric mode.

Thanks, after some more research on Google, I find a substantial portion of people who bought a Carmax warranty are being denied warranty coverage for for a variety of reasons from a late oil change to having only partial work done.

    Not very reassuring.

The Carmax salesman kept trying to convince me to buy since it was "so cheap".
