Sorry, but I had a 06 CRV and the owners manual definitely said: fill, drive, for a short distance and drain and fill again. I could be wrong about the repetitions but I think it was 3 times. Maybe it's different from the shop manual, or models are different, or different between U. S. and Canada but that's what it said, I'm sure of that. Or maybe my manual was different than everyone else's . Lol

I did that 3 time routine once; I'd absent mindedly started pouring in motor oil, doh!

    Not this car.

I have no problem with changing the fluid.
But I'm not able to be a big DIY person.
And the real challenge is that the vast majority of Toyota dealerships service departments are going to be very resistant towards doing it because they think it's unnecessary. Which leaves you with an inexperienced and expensive option that doesn't want to do it in the first place.

If it REALLY needs or should be done? Then TOYOTA needs to change the recommendation.

Any channel available to lobby them? Say, as an optional service?

One thing, their lawyers may not like it, see it as conceding something.

OTOH, they've just recently started recommending a tri-yearly brake fluid change, with some mileage element. 2014 Prius and onward I think. At least in the Canadian maintenance schedule.

Have to say that when purchasing a used vehicle, I really DO care whether it was neglected or obsessively maintained. Maintenance records showing great maintenance are a big plus when I purchase a high-mileage car or high-hour aircraft. Lack of such records is not necessarily a deal-killer, but than I really go for a thorough mechanics inspection and replacement of all working fluids, and as many wear parts as is feasible. Thus prefer buying from a first-owner who can be interrogated about care, maintenance, and driving/flying style.
