Does anyone know if the plug in uses the same "transmission" as the hatchback and if different what are the differences?

I assume you are saying the power rating of MG2 is higher, is it physically a different size or simply rated differently?
Are there any gear ratio differences? Something I read suggested that the "speed reduction" planetary had a different ratio.

I think they are model specific. Why do you want to downgrade to a lesser component? or upgrade to a better component
that can not be usable to it fullest capabilities?

I'm not planning any swaps. I would like to understand all the differences out of simple curiosity.

Same exact car in almost every way as the regular Gen3 with just a bigger battery. I don't believe either of the MG's differ in size compared to the Gen3, but I could be wrong on that.
