We took our small black leather-look soft trash bag when we deserted our 1995 Buick in February. It used to hang on the passenger side door handle, but won't hang on our gorgeous Prius; however, it fits nicely in the door compartment and still leaves room for a clear plastic cosmetic bag with essentials stored in it such as hand wipes, eye glasses cleaner, comb, tissues, sissors, whatever. (Our huge atlas won't fit in that compartment anyway.) Any small bag would work there or one could easily be made if you know someone who sews. Holds plenty of candy wrappers and tissues around town and just empty it at the gas station when on trips.

I just received a very nice litterbag that I ordered from spacesavers.com
    spacesavers.com

    Floor Litterbag
    TRASHSTAND

We spend a lot more time in our cars than ever. This stand alone car trash container is a great item for those on the go! Rigid top flips open for easy access but closes to hide the mess. Leakproof vinyl interior wipes clean with sponge and holds a standard trash bag. 2 side mesh pockets hold sunglasses and maps, pens and candy. Underside grip strip and inner weights keep this floor litterbag upright and stationary. 1.25 gallon capacity. Dimensions: 6"W x 8.5"D x 8"H

It fits very nicely on the hump. You would need to move it to access the drawer in the console. It can sit on the passenger side floor or on the floor behind the front seats as well. Many places for storage. It also has a secret inner compartment to store valuables.

$12.99. The item arrived in a week or so.

I was driving on Hwy 99 in central Calif. near Madera and came across a huge truck stop. Can't remember the name, but in the store I found the elusive hump trash receptacle. I believe the cost was $ 8.99. So they are definitely still available. Oh I just remembered the name. Pilot truck stop. Good Luck, Pagile

    I have one.

Or I should say I'll have one as soon as it arrives.

I was at my Mother's house and she got one of those mail order catalogs that is a bunch of loose pages in an envelope. Not Harriet Carter or Lillian Vernon or Signatures, but along those lines.

There was the trashcan for the hump with the two beanbags on both sides. Comes in tan and black. She sent away for one for me.

I'm still trying to find out what catalog it was and contact info. I can't seem to find them online.

She says she thinks it's Starcrest, but I'll have to wait until the trashcan arrives before I can post contact details. When I know I'll put up the address, phone number and the item number of the trashcan.

I have a great little trash bucket that fits right there. this is the collapsible one that comes in various sizes. this is the small one. It has velcro on the bottom which just slightly grabs the carpet, yet sturdy enough to hold an empty rootbeer bottle.

I adapted basket in my wife's prius using one of these http://www.staples.com/Catalog/Browse/Sku....pe=1&Sku=385736.

For the paint, I used "American Tradition" 165883, Pebble Beach Gloss, which I happened to have from a previous purpose. It matches the beige/ivory interior color.

On the bottom, I put some two-inch velcro strips, again which I already had.

It is not that elegant, but my wife is satisfied with it.
