TRD Lowering Springs?

    It looks like the Eibach has heavier spring rates in the front and a progressive in the rear comparted to the Tein H Tech springs.

    This would definitely be a better combo for those that carry heavy loads in the rear on occassion.

    I'm still looking for info on H&R to compare.

    I just got my Tein H springs installed yesterday...it drives better...about 25%...it looks a little lower maybe 1"....and if anyone needs a good installer in WA...let me know, the guy did it for $150 in 2 hours!...in his Shop...so it's Legit. :) I am going to have him put on my LED side mirrors next.

    PP lowering springs will be going on over the weekend. :)
    I will also be installing the MGP caliper covers and Valenti tail lights. Depending on how all of that goes I may have time for the lower door / rocker moldings as well. Pics to follow...

    Im guessing front and rear top of fender to ground, or even bottom wheel well where the mud flaps go, to the ground. Thanks alot

    Here are pics with the PP TRD lowering springs and MGP caliper covers installed. I am pretty happy with the results. :)

    Height stats:

    Front Dam OEM = 6 1/2 in
    Front Dam PP = 5 1/2 in

    Front wheel gap OEM = 2 3/8 in
    Front wheel gap PP = 1 3/8 in

    Rear wheel gap OEM = 2 7/16 in
    Rear wheel gap PP = 1 1/4 in

    Front wheel well at mud guard location OEM = 7 3/8 in
    Front wheel well at mud guard location PP = 6 3/8 in

    Rear wheel well at mud guard location OEM = 9 1/8 in
    Rear wheel well at mud guard location PP = 7 3/8 in

    The caliper covers were easy to install but I did have to trim the attachment tabs for the rear covers. I also had to re-install the front right when the first attempt resulted in a chirp. I couldn't find where it was rubbing but bent the clips and re-attached a little farther out and that solved the chirp problem.

    Hey guys. I was going to start a new thread but since there is already a TRD lowering spring thread, I figured I'd post here. My dilemma is choosing between the TRD Sportivo that Carson Toyota has (which takes 8-10 weeks to deliver from Japan) or the Prius PLUS (TRD) lowering springs. Granted, the Sportivo is a full coil-over kit complete with matched shocks/springs and the Prius PLUS springs are just springs alone, what should I go with? The Sportivo according to Carson Toyota's site is only a 10mm drop (or .39 inches) while the PLUS springs drop it about 1.2-1.3 if I recall correctly to the front and back. I'm looking for something that rides like stock but handles better than stock. A minimal drop is fine with me, but I was corresponding with a forum member here and another concern for the PLUS springs is the PLUS sway's end links hitting the ground when going over speed bumps. I plan on getting the springs and sways installed at the same time.

    If the sportivo kit is a full coilover I can assure your you'll get a bigger drop and a wider range of adjustability. So if money isnt the issue that sportivo kit seems better. I could be wrong but many are saying that the plus springs only drop about an inch and dont recommend it if your looking for a slammed(ish) look.

    As far as the swaybar concern. The springs have no effect on how low the endlinks will be to the ground. The links are mated to the lower spring mount which is attached to the crossbeam? I think is what you call it. Now different overall wheel size would have a factor in endlink clearance. I installed the sway bar last week and thats the way I see it.

    I'm not looking for a slammed look. My main objective of getting springs is to improve handling/cornering. I'm not looking to take the car to the track so I'm also looking to maintain a stock ish or near stock ride comfort but would also like a slight drop. From looking at TRD Japan's site, it states that the Sportivo doesn't even change the ride height at all.

    Sportivo | TRD

    Just find the keyword "Prius" and it'll show you. Pre 2010> has a 10mm-15mm drop.

    If the pictures on the bottom are the product thats not a coilover its just just a factory matches spring/shock combo. Id save the money and get springs.

    Hm okay. Well my only concern as of right now is the end links scraping over speed bumps. I haven't placed an order on any springs yet but I have placed an order on the sways. I'm not planning on upgrading my wheels to 16s or 17s until I need to as they're still new.
