If I'm understanding that article right (I kind of skimmed over it) this is something that's been happening in the rest of the world for a long time.

I've been to countries where new cars are a bit unaffordable for most people. So they turn to the used market. But as a result, there is less supply of cars going into the used car market and more demand. This increases their price, but also, out of necessity, increases their longevity.

This in turn makes it harder for everyone, especially younger people who make less money to get into owning a car. The thing about a lot of these countries, though, is they tend to have a lot more public transportation.

So you identify as an object of my post?
If you think my country is unaffected by this topic, think again.
I'm not alone; virtually every one in the world shares my opinion.

    That's called consensus bias.

No, it's just called consensus. Usually correct BTW.

Thank you for giving us your individual opinion from Alberta. In the US the consensus is we like him.

Well, at the time of the election, more people voted for other president-vp tickets than voted for his, only failed to coalesce around any one other ticket, so we got him. The minority of voters who elected him might not be properly called a consensus.

But that was several months ago, so how many people do or don't like him now may have changed. Some organizations try to track that.

This is the problem with politics. Name-calling people with different opinions. Also relying on "what I see" instead of accepting that there may be a more accurate statistic.

I wish the best for Trump and his policies although he's personally made my life extremely hard and I'm not convinced that things will get better.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

Not what I heard. The polls are all down, except for maybe the Rasmussen poll, but that one's a crooked shill anyhow.
But that's not the point; the world has turned against the bully, and it won't end well for him.

I am with you on this one.
I try to vote for the person I think is best for the job not the party.

Democrat, Republican or Independent I hope for the very best for their Administration and for our country.
They deserve a chance to see if their policies will work and hopefully will adjust/change or stop them as necessary to do the best for the country.

It takes a particular type of delusion to believe in a flat earth. Similarly, in order to believe that the US system is so deeply corrupt that Trump was fraudulently convicted of 34 felonies, is so devoid of logic, it defies description. That would rank the US as worse than the darkest dictatorships on the planet. That just doesn't add up for anyone with a modicum of common sense.

I'm trying to figure out what your post has to do with the one you quoted of me.

At any rate, I try to stay out of politics, and used cars are more expensive than they used to be.

I'm still kicking myself in the rear end for getting rid of my $250 1993 Mazda 323 and $600 1985 VW Golf, my $1,500 1972 VW Super Beetle and my $1,000 2001 Chevy Astro. Now I'm afraid what will happen when my current car bites the dust and I'm looking at the same cars for about 10 times the price, along with all the other economic problems that have hit us.

Maybe you should have quoted the title instead then?

It was intended to be directly pertinent to your post as well. You may choose to be obtuse to it all you wish.

In other countries used cars are much more expensive, so that somehow caused Trump to be convicted of felonies and then caused people to claim those convictions were fraudulent. Ah! Now I get...

No, I'm still lost in the relation between the two concepts, regardless if both are right, wrong, or one is right and the other wrong.

It not really so complicated. The man responsible for the disarray is not only a convicted felon, but a lifelong con man and a man of very low character.
