oh, I just discovered something interesting. . . when the trunk won't open, neither will the other doors on the car. The "beep-beep" with the key in my pocket opens only the front door when it's cold or rainy. Hmmm. . .

With the Prius II it only has one door SKS, the driver's door.

Why would you possibly listen to the dealer when the recommendation, unanimously, on prius chat is that the 12v is ded;)
(trying to be sarcastic but serious) :)

Again, when weird 12v functions appear, change the 12v battery, or go to the dealer and let them put on new wipers, might need an air filter, for sure a cabin filter.

I've had the dealer check the battery and because it had more than 12V after having driven to the dealership they pronounced it fine. Next morning the car wouldn't start and did the Christmas light thing. It needs checking after being parked over night or similar.

Of course it may just be a faulty lock actuator.

Some dealer DO have actual machine to check more than the voltage ... 3 years and just little 'abuse' often under charged battery could really mean it is just eof. Of course I couldn't possible know your driving pattern but it takes almost an hour driving to fully charge a somewhat discharge 12V in the prius.

If you have a simple multimeter, just take some measurements .... after a long drive (over an hour) and 5-6 hours having the car sitting let say overnight. The easiest place to measuer is under the hood the jumping point. Do not open the driver side door get in on the passenger side if you need get in on the passanger side. If you have a garage you can pop the hood night and just open it in morning to check. Anything under 12V is bad news anything under 12.4 V not soo good news ... healthy battery should be around 12.6V but temperature is a big factor as well.

Good luck.. unfortunately the Prius 12V replacement is not cheap ..

The Toyota stealership just only want $375 for part and 1/2 shop labor @ $125.00 per hour + appropriate sales taxes.
