Trying to Rationalize a PIP

    That is my daily commute. You didn't say that those would be someone's "only" miles. But if that is your point, then no car makes any sense and you should get a bicycle or a 10-year old used car. If the PIP didn't exist I'd have a regular Prius. If these didn't exist I'd probably have a more expensive 30 mpg car.

    You are getting 45.9 MPG due to those short trips. That's actually pretty good.

    With PiP, you can cover most of your miles in electric miles. For gas miles (excluding EV miles), may even get better MPG since you are weeding out the short trips.

    If you get the $2,000+ cash back and 0% interest deal (plus $2,500 federal tax credit), it might make sense depending on the interest rate on your current lease.
