Regarding the lag... I don't know if it's perceptual (based upon sensations and/or sounds) or if it was actual. FWIW, the lag sure doesn't seem reflected in 45-65 mph results in Consumer Reports.

Here are some 45-65 mph times for various cars they tested:
    04 Prius: 6.4 sec
    08 Prius Touring: 6.2 sec
    10 Prius: 6.3 sec

    07 Camry 3.5L V6: 4.4 sec
    07 TCH: 5.1 sec
    07 Camry 2.5L 4: 6.0 sec
    10 Camry 2.5L 4: 5.9 sec

No doubt the camry hybrid is faster than the Prius. 30 min after flooring it once it gets going its not slow. My testing involved a stop watch doing it multiple times. I was timing from instant I floored it until I felt back in my seat maximum torque and that's where my 1.5+ times came from. It was enough that I was unpleasantly surprised trying to squeeze in front of somebody at a yield sign and I wasn't accelerating as quickly as I should have due to delay.
