The combined is better known as a power-split or series-parallel; this is the system the Prius Prime uses.
The Ioniq and Niro are parallel.
The i3 REx is a series. The system in the Clarity is series at low speeds. At higher speeds, the engine can drive the wheels through a single speed transmission.
