In only two days of ownership, more people have asked to check out my car than ANY vehicle I have ever owned (and that includes a very long list of vehicles, some of them fairly high end).

The best part: most are female!

To date: 4 females, 1 male...

Hmmm.... I'm not complaining though! :)

    Anyone else experience this phenom?

Boy, Toyota really hit the nail on the head with this one...

edit: work is slow, I have a lot of time to hang out and read the TONS of great info. on this site! :D

I've had a couple women, but they were much older than me.

Except for my best friend's daughter. She keeps asking for the box (fob) but mostly because she just recently got her license and wants to drive. After driving the family van into the side of the garage, I don't think so.

Too young and bit rebellious for me, plus she has a boyfriend anyway.

LOL, I actually work in Wellesley, I doubt I'd have the same luck in Dracut! In Dracut, I'm more likely to have rednecks throw rocks at her! You know, the kind that would look at you funny if you dropped the word "alternative" in your description of the Prius....

I was at a stop light with the windows down when a woman and her daughter (teenage) rolled down their windows and said "We really like your car...what is it?". In 30 years of driving - that's the first time THAT has ever happened.

I had an Insight for a couple of years and we couldn't get out of a parking lot even when in a hurry. No problem with the Prius yet, doesn't look that strange I guess.

Ok, so you cover Wellesley College, let me hang out at Northampton to cover the 'other' all-girls college.

Bob, I will leave Simmons for you. :D

I realized I think I ought to clarify that line. A couple of women approached me about my car.

I've only had my Prius three weeks, and can't believe how much attention it garners. I pretty much keep a car until it dies, and I've never owned a car in my life that attracted as much attention during its car-life as the Prius has in three weeks. Where was this car when I was 18? ;)

There's a guy on my soccer team that has owned a Prius for over a year. We were talking about how much attention the car gets, and he stated that owning a Prius is about the closest he'll ever get to experiencing what life is like as a rock star.

While the attention is nice (especially from the females), I feel as though I should be carrying around a handout to give these people to help move them toward purchasing a hybrid.

Heck I felt weird showing my best friend's sister in law around by myself. I liked her, but she has issues that probably would get on my nerves after a while, and she lives up north. At least she was closer to my age, and I treated her right. We went to the movies, we went to the park, and drive her around listening to a comedian and a musical that I had on CD.

    LOL!

I do. I made some handouts of Web URLs for Earth Day when I represented the San Diego Prius Club. I gave them all away but printed more due to the attention the car gets. Since I invariably have to pop both the hood and the hatch during show and tell, I have the handouts in a binder in the cargo area.

Funny, but I get mostly guys asking me about the car. It's better than having a dog. Which I also have. In fact, the dog loves to ride in the car. Double whammy! I'm thinking I might drive to the beach and just hang around my car in the parking lot. Or would that be too obvious?

    Areometer and Mystery,

I'll leave the college women to you guys... I'm just a little too old for them...

I may just have to wait until Danny starts up Priusmatch.com for getting us Prius owners together...

One of the girls on my daughter's Theatre on Ice team turned 16 in December. Asked if she could drive the Prius. "Sorry, insurance says no unmarried drivers under 25". Easy out :) I don't think I want anyone in the 'high risk' category driving MY Prius!

I had another young couple interested in my car today. I showed them around it and let them sit in it. They were very impressed and said it was bigger inside than it looked. They were amazed at my (rather low lately) 47.5 MPG average and thanked me profusely for letting them check out my car! Seems there are still not too many demonstration Prii out there so it's up to us owners to spread the word.
