Hi all, in my 2013 plug in, I have this funny dangling button thing, the cut out on the plastic looks like it was designed for it so I suppose it’s from the factory . Anyone know what it is for? I have Pressed it down I have held it down I’ve done everything with that but nothing happens , thanks all.

It’s not like anything we have in the states;).

So unless there are factory options over there, my bet is someone added it, whatever it is(y).

Nothing happens at all. There is no writing on the cable nor is there any writing behind the button.

Pull the plastic shroud around the steering wheel and see where the wires go ;).

They’ll go somewhere and will help with next steps (y).

GPS dongle? I drive part-time for a local courier-service, and all the firm's cars are equipped with GPS dongles, and driver-ident alarms! (…just sayin' ;))

That looks very after-market to me. The factory shouldn't be making any thingies dangling on any wires, the wires should be fully hidden behind plastic panels.

I’m wondering if it might be a button for the factory Head unit which has been taken out, Because I think I just found the microphone

1.) The dangly bit is where a previous owner added an on/off switch for something. Can't say what.
2.) If that is a mike, down by your feet is a staggeringly bad place for it.
3.) If you really need to know, you'll have to chase wires.
    4.) Otherwise, just drive.

I would first guess a wired Bluetooth interface similar to this one.[IMG]
Second guess would be a wired GPS antenna. It would be a bad place for one, but then again they put the mic under the dash instead of running it up the A pillar to a common spot over the sun visor.

Yeah it's probably something related to an aftermarket headunit/satnav system, 100% not OEM!

    I have no idea.
    But the speculation is fantastic.
