According to bestcarweb.jp there will be a GR Crown with an upgraded Hybrid Max system going from the current 340 hp to 375 hp. The GR Crown will also be lowered slightly to reduce the amount of roll. Autoevolution has an Americanized version of the bestcarweb.jp article.

Apparently making the engine more powerful is easier to do with the parallel Hybrid Max system than the THS system because a higher engine output on the THS system requires balancing with the electric motors, MG1 and MG2. The MG1 in the upgraded Hybrid Max system will stay the same.

Ugly car. As an owner of an Avalon hybrid of last year's vintage, never would have considered the Crown. Hybrid Avalon plenty powerful. Avalon hybrid replaced a V6 Avalon and my wife didn't notice the difference.

Yeah bulky look, like an Accord Cross Tour.

Yeah. I was excited that the Crown was finally coming… and then they gave us this weird CrossTour looking thing. The innards look good but the exterior is meh.

Also, the interior doesn’t seem to be Crown-level. A Crown should have a better quality interior than an Avalon. It really should be at least Lexus ES levels of refinement imo. (And it is priced higher than Avalon as it should).
