I am ready to actively start shopping for a new Prius. I walked a dealer lot here in NH after hours. I've done browsing online at different packages. I would love a PHEV but skeptical of the cost. Right now, I am aiming for Prius 4 or 5. I want the solar panel but would like some of the more premium options of the 5. Hehehe I would love adding some Prius Plus components, too. So I guess my question would be, can I the solar panel with a 5? I'm in the car 10-15 hrs per week.

Obtw, eventually I will sell my current Prius.

No, no solar with the Prius Five.

If its the solar roof u want then it won't be a model 5 or a PIP.

The PIP is priced very competitively right now and I would argue it is a best buy. Unfortunately you cannot get a solar panel with it. Either wait for the new Persona Special Edition model to come out and add solar to it or buy a Four with solar and slap a set of 17" wheels on it.

Have you tried to build a car on the Toyota website. The regions do not import all the possible combinations. For example, your region may decide to import only a Five with AT package. If you wanted a base Five or a Nav you'd have to look in another region.

It shouldn't matter which region (in the US) re: not being able to get solar roof w/model Five.

It's not listed at Exclusive: 2012 MY Prius - Changes and Additions | PriusChat.

It's related to weight and has been discussed at 15" or 17" Wheels | PriusChat and many other threads before. I suspect that if the combination were available, the Gen 3 Prius wouldn't be able to achieve (or be sold as) a EPA 50 mpg combined. Or, the solar roof + 17" wheel version wouldn't achieve it, while the others would.

Thus, it's likely more for marketing reasons, as well as possibly making the price too high.

You can order a Prius from the factory so you do NOT have to settle for what's left on the dealer's lot. It takes 30 days to get what you ordered. EZ.

i've talked my GF's mom into buying pip and i got the deal for her for 31734 + ttl blizzard pearl. from there she got $1500 cash back from toyota along with 0% financing for 60 months. so car was 31734 + ttl -$1500 divided by 60 and came out to be 551 and change. of course she will get $1500 check from California and $2500 Federal Tax Credit and HOV lane STICKER!! roughly she saved 1500(toyota)+3000(interest)+1500(state)+2500(federal tax) =8500. the prius pip is as well as equipped i think as a 3. so... why buy a prius 3 for $25000 @ 2.9% financing if lucky (toyota is not running APR special right now and if u are tier 1+ then u will get somewhere @ 3.25%). not too much different. 551 times 60= 33060 - 4000 is 29060 total payments or u can buy a model 3 for 25k + ttl anwith 3.25% @ 506 times 60= 30360 total payments 1300 more plus no HOV sticker with less MPG. do the math and buy a PiP. I told her... if i had to buy a prius again... i'd buy a PiP because clearly it is the best DEAL at this moment.

OK, I'm playing around with options again. Why do I have to deselect lowering springs and sway bar when I select all weather mats?

I had issues earlier when I got to the options. It's working ok now, I think. I have a PIP tab and a Prius 4 open. I also found a comparison tool to compare 4, 5 and PIP
