    Erm no.

It'll just be another of those "I told you so" global warming posts of which there are many on here.

Just you think I shouldn't jump to assumptions in future and read the links?

Ask the people of Alaska about global warming...near record cold year for them....and ask the Europeans too...same deal.

A single data point, warm or cold, really doesn't tell you much.
What is more concerning to me is the number of high temp records vs the number of low temp records as well as the global average temperature trend line.

Actually, it's not. You should read it. And not just because you posted it. :p

Statements like this indicate how poorly people understand the concept. Just because average global temperatures are increasing, that doesn't mean it's getting hotter absolutely everywhere. Climate change is the preferred term, not because "the scientists changed their minds - they must be wrong again!", but because that term more accurately describes what's happening. Because of many factors, including changes in air and ocean currents, some places will get colder, some wetter, some dryer, and yes, some will get warmer. Record cold years actually add to the evidence, rather than disprove the idea.

We went to Alaska couple years ago took a Kenai fjords glacier boat tour out of Seward. This glaciers have receded several miles and they keep melting, but the ship captain narrating said Alaska does not think it is necessarily man-made global warming. Funny position I thought.

Considered taking a cruise ship this spring, but for family of 4, fuel consumption worked out to be equivalent to driving a car @ 2.5 mpg. So I didn't.

For Alaska we flew in and got a mini-van for four...better? It was a fun adventure.

Why is that? The glaciers recede and advance, some on a very frequent cycle.

"Weather" is what is happening outside at the moment. "Climate" is the conditions for the most recent 30 years (1980-2011). You need a long term perspective to have any idea what is going on. A single year may be "warmer" or "cooler", but a single year does not indicate a trend or change. It is not "warmer" or "cooler" everywhere. People are understandably skeptical because Exxon and Big Carbon did an intense effort at misinformation. It is in Big Carbon's interest to continue our addiction to fossil fuels.

Glaciers respond to global, not local, climate. Ice is slow to respond. Advance or retreat may be the result of cumulative effects over several (10+) years.

Not just big carbon, its big agriculture, big transportation, etc. There are many people that have an interest in the status quo use of fossil fuels.

Then there is the other side, the green companies that want to scare you into more subsidies. They also have an interest in telling you weather is climate, and when it gets cold its because of climate change not nature, and its your fault for that too.

The US has been lagging lately in temperatures, maybe its just catching up. Global numbers are much more useful than those for a single country. I only see march reported globally so far. Was the last 12 months hot for the world or just the us and some other places?
