Being in Southern California, it seems that every other car on the freeway and roads have an Uber Sticker on the back window. Uber has certainly over saturated the market with drivers. But recently I have seen many newly purchased used Prius Gen III with the Uber sticker on the back window.

(In California new cars and sometimes used cars that have been resold will not have a license plate and will have in its place a dealer advertising plate installed, until DMV sends out new plates)

My concern is if Uber is promoting the use of the Prius Gen III as a perfect car to use as a driver, how will this impact the avaiblity of Gen III's over the next few years? Will it hurt resale value or help resale value? Also, with so many cars being used for commercial use, used car parts will be harder to find in the future, with low mileage?

It will increase resale value. Whether that helps or hurts depends on whether you are selling or buying.

I can see it helping non-Uber driven cars get high resale, but not so for a Uber driven car.

No way to tell that a used Prius was Uber-driven.

Cost of gas at the pump is the biggest factor driving hybrid sales. Current cost of gas is LOW (<$3/gal), and hybrid sales are hurting.

Odometer reading and cost of gas will also effect resale value; lower mileage and high gas prices, will make hybrids worth more.

Car Fax may tell, and dealer history may tell. If they are getting 5K miles or 10K mile oil changes every couple of months or sooner could indicate that It may be a commercial driven car.
