This was posted on the Toyota Prius fb page, but thought it should be shared! A used Plug-in is unheard of!

Knowing Ebay the winning bidder will probably end up with a picture of the car... o_O

I saw that on Judge Judy once...

The seller is a Toyota Dealership. Doubtful (well, maybe not) that they'd pull shenanigans like that!

A New York car, on eBay a couple of weeks after Hurricane Sandy rolled through, I have doubts!

That is the dealer I bought my PiP from. They offered this to me but I went with a brand new one because of the $3,500 Toyota incentive, 0% APR and Federal $2,500 tax rebate. It was cheaper for me to buy the brand new car. Go figure.

It's actually $4,000 right now in NY + 0% APR + $2,500 federal tax rebate. You're right, it doesn't make sense. That's why I didn't purchase the one OP posted when they offered it to me. It would have cost me thousands more.

This is why an informed consumer is a smart consumer.

If it is a "used" vehicle you can not claim the $2500 federal tax credit and many of the other incentives. A used one at a significant discount is interesting for someone without income tax, like a student or a non-profit.

BTW, isn't this a false advertisement?

Yup, and someone without the credit to get the TFS rebate.

The ebay listing doesn't mention TFS. Are you sure this vehicle would be eligible for the TFS rebate and financing?

Depends on your commute. If it is driven in the city (or highway below 62 mph), you can get 11 miles gas free.

I drive mainly in the city and getting 12-13 EV miles.

No I mean, a used PiP with a discount may also be attractive to someone who can't take advantage of the TFS rebates on a new one.

Ahh, I misinterpreted your post, thinking "credit" refered to the tax credit rather than "credit score".

I was under the impression, wrong perhaps, that the PiP would fire up the ICE and use just a little gas to pre-heat the ICE for meeting emissions goals.

PiP starts in EV mode by default. It works better than NEV with better highway capability on EV and the cleanest gas engine to extend the range (per Volt speak ;).

It doesn't start the ICE after 10-15 seconds like a regular Prius. If I manually switch it to HV mode, then ICE will start like a regular Prius.

this is one of my favorite features. if it didn't start in ev automatically, i would forget half the time and the ice would fire before i realized i needed to change it.
