    The electrolyte is a saturated, potassium hydroxide solution which 'eats' all organic material. It is also used as a drain cleaner because it converts fats to soap.

    Wear safety glasses and have water already flowing in case the electrolyte gets on you. Wear old clothes and minimize exposed skin. Drop the parts into a bucket of water.
