    Hi folks,

I thought only the windshield was using UV reduction glass, but I notice the side windows are not as clear as the regular Prius windows. Are those also UV reduction glass?

They claim UV resistance, but what you really want to keep out is IR. That will turn your car into a oven. The tint I have cuts 53% IR. You can feel the difference on your skin when you roll the window down!

  3. It was always my understanding that glass does not allow UV in.

Thanks! Anyway, I tinted my regular Prius before. I hate they need open up the door inside panels. I saw some of the plastic hooks dropped, and the guy just threw them away. He said "you don't need all of them", huh?

I really love the IR reduction tint. I have Wincos front and 3M crystalline rear. It keeps the cabin warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

+1 on the 3M crystalline tint. It provides amazing IR rejection. It's a bit pricey but well worth it, imho. I have all my windows done, including the windshield, and my car stays quite cool..even on a sunny Cali day.

+1 on the Air Blue 80! I have had the front windshield finished with the '80, good stuff!
Pinnicle 50 for the rest of the windows!

According to 2012 Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid Models, both PiP and liftback have only UV reduction windshields.
Btw, I remember when the gen 3 came out, they made a big deal about rain-repellent windows. Did those get dropped with the 2012 refresh?

The rain repellant side windows as well as the plasmacluster filtration was dropped with refresh.

Bummer. I was just thinking how useful it would have been to have that the other day.
