    Hi guys!

I just took possession of a Prius yesterday. Woohoo. IN LOVE.

Going on vacation soon and will be gone for 7-8 days.

Can the prius sit for that long or should I pass a key off to my dad (he's in MD, I'm in VA) and have him come get it and drive it around while I'm gone??

    Let me know thanks!

I would think they sit much longer than that on the dealer lots and on the boats being transported so it should be okay. I know my car basically sat for about a week without any issues.

You could let him drive it. It is always better to have a car driven.

I have seen car develope "lot rot".Tires tend to get flat spots, the oil doesn't get circulated, the HV battery will be fine either way.

If you loan it to him, you may get him to buy another Prius.

Just walk him thru the weird-and-wonderful start-up and shut-down tricks, if you do get him to drive it.

i leave mine in the cold every winter for 5 weeks, no issues for 11 years. the only concern is your 12 volt battery. this being a new car, you have no idea of it's state of health, even though it should be perfect. sometimes they sit around on dealers lots or showroom and sustain damage or discharge.
