    Two Questions:
    1) What is the kW or BTUh rating of the Prius 2012 base
    2) My battery indicator never' tops up'. Is this normal?

    1) 134 HP = 100kW
    2) Yes. Bottom = 40% and Top =80%. Computer will try to prevent it from getting to 8 bars or 80%, or go below 2 bars or 50%. Staying in the middle minimizes the stress on the battery for a long life.

The Prius battery is meant to be an energy buffer, to extract engine efficiency, and not a storage unit.

Thanks for the top up response. I blew it with my kW question. I meant what is the kW or BTHh rating of the air conditionning unit (Which is electrically powered)

In my 2010, it is possible (though rare) to hit the top notch on the battery (the two nubs didn't fill though) -- from April this year (the only time I've seen it) -- happened at bottom of a fairly long downhill stretch:

Cool. It happened to my spouse too. I missed it.

Not sure about your first question but regarding your second.....On my SGII I notice the SOC tops at 66.6% (7 bars). You can exceed that of course to eight bars but it is very tough. I've only done it 4-5 times with my 2011 (I drove it aggressively) and never with my 2012 (I hypermile).
The lowest I've see is the low 40%, can't remember exact number.

I am at 8 bars every time I drive.

After visting 8 bars, maybe you shouldn't drive.
