Secured 'AMPED' yesterday for Washington State.
It's going on our new Salsa (mid life) Red Pearl. We considered FREE US, R JOULE, WATT UP, EXXNON, & PUKOFEC. The last one was obscure enough to stump our teenager for quite awhile. It wasn't original anyway. Nobody in my familly would go along with me on PASSGAS, and BEANO.
We also thought about DUELLY, REVOLTD, REDNGRN, TISTIME, PRIVOLT,
    and SIPPER.
Some of these were born of excessive coffee and late nights. We were at about 50 when we finally made the choice.

I just got my 'HYO' plates this week. It makes sense when you see it on the car, which is of course silver. If you still don't get it, maybe you're too young to remember the lone ranger, who said "Hi ho, Silver" to his horse instead of pushing the start button on his car. I spelled it like HYbrid. It could also stand for 'high owe', which was not intended, but is still appropriate.

Originally, I wanted Salsa Red Pearl, and plates that said 'predius'. But I'm happy with HYO, and with silver (the car and the colour).

I just ordered mine, trying a choice of three:

    LIL HMR Lil Hummer
    PSONGAS Pass On Gas
    LTLHMMR Little Hummer

Thought about ANTIHMR but feared someone driving the real thing would get offended and run me over! Could not come up with anything to suggest that the Prius was the environmentally correct type of Hummer to have. So, it reminds me of a little humming bird when it is in motion with the ICE off. Hence Lil Hummer!
I think Pass On (the) Gas is self explanatory.

    gee... little hummer???

i understand the humming sound made by the electric motor, but the word hummer brings something else. a bit more unpleasent to mind

    Catsbox,

Personally I think all 3 of the above are not that intuitive. Your 'translations' make sense, but 'HMR' or 'HMMR' for Hummer is not an abbreviation that immediately springs to mind, nor does 'PS' for pass. Nothing personal, you might want to run them by some friends and see what they think...

I ordered mine a few weeks ago and I went with the California Coastal Conservation plates.

I chose: HI MILGE for "High Mileage"

Thanks Dave. Glad to see your mind is not in the gutter (or someplace worse!). No offense to anyone, but LIL HMR is intended as a cheap shot against the real thing (H2, H3, whatever)!
