I definitely had a broken wire on the variable valve timing solenoid. I changed the connector. The code is still showing p0010 after changing the broken connector. Does it take a while for the computer to remove the code. I tried clearing it but it remains.

You've got a permanent DTC. Since you've most likely fixed the problem, you can make the code go away for good by obtaining a normal judgement during 3 consecutive driving cycles.

Some scan tools will show a permanent DTC as such, so it won't be confused with a current one. But maybe not all of them are that helpful.
