Toyota/Lexus don't like the idea of a switchable VSC. Even on the new Lexus GS300/430 ($45-$55K), they have been widely criticized by many on the VSC that cannot be switched off. Lawsuit comes to mind. :)

yeah, I was considering the camery with the v 6, but you can't have fun driving it because the vsc keeps you from pushing the car to the limits, yes I know a camery sports cars is stupid.

Is that a cross between a Toyota Camry and a Chevy Camaro?

I can see from the posts that people confused ASC and TRAC, and they have since been corrected.

But one poster said that some cars have a switch to turn the ASC on and off. Is that true? That doesn't sound right. I know of switches to turn TRAC on and off, but not ASC. Also, I understand why one would want to turn TRAC on and off (sort of for the same reasons as choosing a low gear), but why would one ever want to turn off the ASC (which is considered by many to be the greatest safety advance since seat belts)? I thought ASC, like ABS brakes, only kicks in in emergency situations.

Stability control can be turned off in many cars. Some people like to turn it off for a more visceral driving experience. Many higher end cars, like Beamers, have the option of turning off stability control.

Thanks Daniel. Curious, do some cars also have the option to turn off ABS brakes?

Nope. If you have ABS, it's always "on" (so to speak).. i guess active is the better word.
