    We are talking about a car that starts at $17k in the cheapest trim, and around $20k for that most likely to be sold. The diesel Cruze appears to be closest to the Premier in terms of features. That trim starts at $24,350 for the sedan with automatic. The diesel doesn't appear available in the hatchback at this time.

    So the diesel is almost $2000 more.

    Reflection back on "Meet the Volkswagens" and other VW YouTube ads knocking the Prius, I'm thinking the Ioniq might be a better match:
    • more audio feedback, engine and road, than a Prius
    • stepped transmission
    This comes from a dealer 'test drive' of an Ioniq Blue on Friday. Perhaps @Trollbait might repeat the experiment and see if he sees the same?

    I doubt it, even if we had a competent (aka not brain dead) White House. CO2 emissions are source energy dependent, and since the source cannot be determined ahead of time there is no basis for CO2 regulation.

    It is already factored into a company's CAFE figure, with a bonus. That's part of how they are able to lower the MSRP on plug ins.
    We won't see anything on the consumer side until plug ins become the norm over ICE cars.
