Jetta Hybrid does not get the good real life mpg... Autobild tested it and found to get around 25-30% real life worse than Prius G3 overall.

Sounds like someone just wrote up a review of the "Beta" Jetta hybrid.

    Sorry, I should have explained.

In the 1980s, a lot of software companies located in the Redmond Washington area but some further South would give 'beta' copies of the next release software to trade magazine writers. One or more glowing reviews would come out shazam ... competing products would 'disappear.' One example, MacBasic by Apple disappeared after the 'beta' of Microsoft Basic for Mac showed up.

This article is about a car that is not listed in Fuel Economy, much less, on the local VW lots for purchase. We are reading about a p*ck tease whose best possible outcome is to delay someone buying a Prius today that beats the heck out of what is claimed. It is a 'beta' in the worst, 1980s sense of the word.

well thats pretty obvious from the numbers - usually these drives net high 60's MPG at least :).

But german media has been pretty critical of german hybrids... and they are not usually critical of their own... of course, they will just often say "in any case, TDI Bluemotion is better choice, offering similar economy" ;-)
