I like seeing companies aim high.
    The more competition the better!

Just because the NA VW's are made in Mexico with questionable reliability, doesn't mean ALL VW's are poor. I'm not a VW fan, but I think the release of two EV's (the UP and the Golf) will be a game changer.

Sure the Tesla is a great car, probably the best EV out there, but it's too big and too expensive to be successful in markets outside the US. The UK base version is selling for £90,000 ($142,000) which is a LOT of money. I can see VW selling many electric E-Up's at £15,000 ($23,800) and electric Golfs at £20,000 ($31,700) instead, despite their limitations.

That is why I referred to Tesla's third gen sedan. Price target is $35,000 base model price and a 200 mile range. Sized smaller as well.
As for the Model S, you may be right about some countries in Europe, but the highest order rate per capita in the world is in Norway:)

I just had to totally LOL at the bold claims from VW. Fat chance they'll somehow pull it off when coming from being WAY behind in both hybrids and EVs...
    No kidding. Hilarious.

    It won't I fear.

They OWN the European motoring press. Upset VW as a motoring journalist and you'll lose a major percentage of the manufacturers here; VW, Skoda, Seat, Audi and Bentley. That's why the press here shouts the 'benefits' of diesel, calls it 'clean' or 'green'.

Over in the US, VW is not very large seller of vehicles. Out of the above brands, we only have VW and Audi.
