between vdub and the new administration, these chargers are likely to put out less juice than they are reporting.

IIRC, they can be resold in other countries only if they are repaired to USA emission levels. That's part of the settlement.

    Pretty much.
The NJ politicians are trying to figure out how to spend their share of the "loot".
How would you spend $72M to reduce air pollution in New Jersey?

I presume this buildout is using the existing SAE combo/DC/J1772 plug? Wiki articles report its maximum power potential to be around 240kW - unless it's modified (both plug & receiver) to have longer pins to handle the extra current. But I suppose the cars' receivers don't have to be redesigned because there aren't any yet. And how huge would a traction pack have to be in order to receive that much power without heating up to some very warm 'C' number. And if the traction pack is that huge, how heavy did it just get? It feels like the public is getting 400'lbs psi of sunshine blown up their backside.

It looks like they're already planning for the future when EVs can charge at those rates. For now, the cars are only going to charge at the rates they were designed for.
