Wasn't the USA the leader of science at one time?

Here's a topic that discusses that very thing. You'll be surprised I think.

Funny because I always thought hell would be more interesting. At least I know that is where all my friends are going to be. Also, most scientists, philosophers and musicians.

Who is going to be in heaven? Pat Robertson? The Pope? Should be a hoot...

Now, heaven from some other cultures sound like more fun. Valhalla I could do.

Seriously. What are your expectations of "heaven"?

Uhh sure. That *must* be it!

I would suggest you pray for me, but history shows that people of your persuasion pray and operate torture devices at the same time with alacrity.

Good job trying to get back to topic.

The US continues to lead in science per my previous post. A better broader measure than just a top subjective prize would be the number of patents of inventions by country. In 2004, the US had more patents than the rest of the world combined. In 2004 US had over 86,000, second place Japan with over 35,000, third place Germany with over 10,000 then a big drop off. Interesting notes China 331, India 311. Oh yeah we can't forget these guys, Syria 1, Iran 0...nice contribution to humanity guys...

The nationality of the parade of scientists is a continum, after studying here they usually become US citizens. If not they at least usually continue to collaborate with groups in the US.

It is sort of like the Olympics where when the "up close and personal" profile is done you find out that they trained year round in the US but are competing in the Olympics for Trinidad.

The US is made up of almost all immigrants. Then when they're in the US awhile they breed and become mutts. A nation of mutts called US citizens. The plan was strength through diversity.

Resorting back to non-answers. Silly me to think we could have a coherent debate. I give up.

This very thread reflects part of the problem: meddling in curricula by reactionary religious nutballs, and lack of engagement of educated people.

    I beg to differ.

All I had to do was to read the story of Creation, Genesis 1:1-17.

OK! [attachmentid=4539] IAP I give up you are sooooo right, it must have been the plain straight forward language, because right there before my eyes I can now plainly see that in basic "Far Left Liberal" english it says. . . God made the earth flat, the center of the universe and everything revolves around it mostly due to the fact that IAP's head is so dense that an original independent thought couldn't escape at the speed of light or maybe I just plain misunderstood, please elucidate.

I find it ironic that the very people that reject evolution tenaciously embrace the concept of "social Darwinism."

I only addressed your assertion that nowhere in the Bible could you find an inference that the Earth was the center of the Universe. Read my earlier post carefully, including the highlighted portion of the part of your message to which I was responding.

Give it up IAP. If something in the Bible supports something the Religous Right wants to believe, it's called "proof". Otherwise, it's just poetic interpretation.

Selective evidence. The same kind of thing that gets us into stupid unneccessary wars like Iraq.

Right Rufaro. Besides, there's probably a bunch of oil sitting out under those glaciers anyhow, if only we could get all that snow out of the way.
