Mockingbirds have more nerve than most burds, but this one did not know orange cats have more nerve than most cats. ;)

^ Mockingbird was probably defending a nest - they are very territorial.

If the burd was smarter, she (figure it's the Mom) would have flew from behind and pecked it on the head, so the cat would have less opportunity to strike back. A few dive bombs like that and the cat would give up. :D

I had a Siamese named "Mrs. Whiskers" that ended up going to live with my son in Colorado - she was always "his" cat. Typical Siamese, she was very chatty and very affectionate... well, maybe not so much with the son's ex... Mrs. Whiskers would hide in the bedroom, wait for the lovebirds to go to sleep and then the cat jumped on the bed, sat on the GF and looked at her paw lovingly several times before swatting the GF in the face. My son relayed the story to me... eventually he got rid of the GF and kept the cat. ;) That cat is living a life of luxury in the apartment with beautiful views and she is spoiled with great cat food and more toys and beds than one cat needs.

Mrs. Whiskers was also malicious to the other cat in the BD (before divorce) house, Jeff. He was a Garfield-like orange tabby who preferred to eat, consume copious amounts of catnip (if I put a pile on the floor he would lay on it and lick the floor as his eyes glazed over) and sleep. He was a loaf of a cat and it drove the Siamese crazy... she would sneak up on the sleeping Jeff, look at her paw, lick it a few times, look at her paw again and then "WAP!" She would swat Jeff with a disdainful look, "Look at you, just laying there, fat and all."

In BD life, we always had a real, very full branched Christmas tree in the house. As my sons were getting older, decorating the tree once it was in the stand became my job. I was listening to music, minding my own business as I was doing the lights, no problem, started doing ornaments when two sets of claws came out of the tree and grabbed my hand as I was placing an ornament on the tree. I screamed, jumped back, dropped the ornament (sound of glass popping), said some very colorful language once I realized it was the cat and not some wild animal that was living in the tree and chalked it up to experience. I think my heart stopped racing 30 minutes later.

In life AD (after divorce) there is an artificial tree and a roommate who is deathly allergic to cats... :(

Haven't gone through this whole thread but cat lovers who have not seen the "Simon's Cat" videos, they are worth watching for a good laugh - all cat owners can find something that Simon's cat does that their own kitties do...:D
