WeatherTech cargo mat for Prius doesn't quite fit PIP

I know this is probably old news but I finally got around to taking a picture of the rear cargo mat to illustrate how it differs from the PIP version (if there is such a thing).

The right side of the cargo area is shaped a little differently such that the mat doesn't follow the contours and ends up sitting up on the side of the interior panel rather than flat on the bottom of the cargo cover.

I do have the OE carpeted cover in place under the WeatherTech liner but I had it configured this way on my 2012 Three as well. Regardless, the shape of the mat is off. the area circled in yellow is shaped wrong.

 

The OEM all-weather mat?

 

The WeatherTech looked more durable to me but I've never owned the OEM all-weather mat so I cannot verify. I haul a generator and landscape equipment frequently and I didn't want a weak mat that would tear or scuff easily.

 

I guess I need to listen to my voicemails. I do it like once every two weeks. LOL

 

Nah. It's not the height of the mat. The shape is just off. I removed the OE carpeted mat just to make sure this was the case.

The drivers side mat is cut differently too because the PIP Advanced does have the manual fuel door lever on the floor. It's in the dash.

I don't feel these issues are bad enough to warrant buying new mats. This was just meant as an FYI to those wanting to transfer their regular Prius mats into a PIP.

 

Because the OEM units are simply all weather mats and not true liners that have deeper sides, hold water better, and help protect the side trim.

As I stated in my first and subsequent posts, these were from my 2012 Three. I saw no reason to purchase brand new mats because of these minor fitment issues. The mats fits my 2012 Three perfectly. The Husky liners protect better, however.
