    Hi All,

There's a weird adapter popping out underneath the audio system and I'm wondering what it is.
The audio system is 58135 (base).

    This is the adapter [IMG]

Can anyone help me recognize it?
I'm trying to get a working solution for aux/mp3/anything other than plain audio CDs working

    Thanks! :)

Pay a visit to techinfo.toyota.com and peruse or download the Electrical Wiring Diagram Manual for your model year. There's a section in the back with drawings of all the connectors in the car showing their shape, color, and number of terminals (so you're looking for that rectangular, natural white, 4 terminal one). It'll have a letter-number name like H7 or something. There's another section in the back of the book that has a list of all those connector names with (a) their part numbers and (b) the diagram page number on which they appear. You can flip to that page to find out what it's for.

My first guess was going to be one of the PTC heater connectors, oddly enough, but on second thought I think those are larger. I'll be interested in what you find though.

Found the Electrical Wiring Diagram Manual, either there's no such connector (in the manual) or I've missed it somehow.
    It is indeed weird!

Thank you for the help! :)

^ Yeah, I'm really thinking it's some aftermarket connection.

You can also flip to the location diagrams toward the front of the same manual where it should show a few views of the instrument panel area with circles and arrows and short descriptions of all the components and connectors located nearby. That might just be another way to catch it if you missed it in the connector mugshots later in the book. You could then turn to the circuit-diagram pages for the things you find there, and see if you can match up the wire colors you're seeing.

From your photo I'm guessing that location is down at the very bottom of the center stack where the plastic trim meets the carpet? There's various other stuff besides audio in that general area.

It could be something aftermarket, but it doesn't look quite as out-of-place as aftermarket stuff sometimes does....

the dash comes apart easy. take it apart and show us where it goes. if it is factory, you got to plug it back in anyway, right?

Yeah, owned it since new. Always been there, always wondered about it as well.
Unfortunately, the Toyota agency that sold us the car is no more.

    As a side question,
How do I know which kind of cd changer connector do I have? 6+6,5+7
The audio system version is 58135

I will try opening the dash, it is indeed interesting!

Hello cu714ss. This plug looks aftermarket to me. But let us know what it goes to. What year is your Prius.
