I'm running 1680x1050, so I know what you mean about the screen real estate. I'll take a look into the visitor stats to see if putting together a wider theme would be able to work for the majority of people. I decided to go fixed-width this time because it's a WHOLE LOT easier to set formatting standards on the admin side of things, and because I like that it presents a cleaner and more universal appearance.

Like I said, though, I'll take a look into it.

Still a work in progress, though I hope to have a beta up for testing sometime in the near future.

As a side note, for some reason the old theme is still showing up for me under my Danny admin account, but the new one is showing up under my test123 account. Is anyone else still showing the old theme like me?

LOL, I mentioned the same thing "offline", glad to know there's a consensus. At 1920x1200, the spacing is painful unless there's other intentions for the side real-estate. Source pegs the table width at 100%, so it's surely a CSS restriction.

Actually I'm just happy those dang "Circuit City" Christmas ads are gone. Please don't run any more of those horrible, drop-down, pop-up, in-your-face, annoying ads again. If I ever see another set that annoying again, I'll probably point out how successful they were for Circuit City ... the signature of someone going out of business.

BTW, the new PriusChat format is a nice and it is good to see sensible web ads.

I was thinking of ways to use the left- and right-side screen real estate. For the Forums, at least, why not a "Microsoft Outlook"-type format, with three panes (or frames). The outline of the forums would be on the left side, a listing of all the threads in the selected forum in the upper-right pane, and the string of posts in the selected thread in the lower-right pane. Each pane would be scrollable with the mouse wheel (or vertical slide bar). I've seen other webpages out there with this type of format, but I can't think of them at the moment.

    I like it.

FYI, I have standard and widescreen computers, and the new format doesn't even fill the standard screen. My near vision needs a lot of help these days. So not filling the standard screen is a bit of a nuisance.

I understand the problems on the admin side of things, but I await seeing what you do to get it wider than this.

Otherwise, looks great, I'm enjoying the change.

Strong work Danny. I, too, vote for a wider format. But I know how much trouble it was getting things to work right for the forums, so congrats on the successful converson.

The 3D effects aren't working for me. Maybe I'm using the wrong glasses.

The new look is nice. Functionally the lack of a widescreen option take the forums back a step and makes them harder to use.

I've also run it a glitch using my Mac and Safari. To the left of the "last post arrow" I have a box with a question mark that takes up 1/3 of the column. (This is the box I get in Safari when a graphic doesn't load.)

When viewed using my Max and Firefox this box is not there. The content for the pages as view in different browsers is the same except for the additional box in Safari.

(This is only for "threads in forum: xxxxx" pages, the first page in the forums section looks fine as well as the subforums pages.)

EDIT: The box shows up on the search for new messages page as well.

JSH - I think I just took care of that problem. I was missing an image file. Let me know if you all see any other broken images.

Running Ubuntu 8.10 with Firefox, no issues. The narrow format was hard to read at first, as like Tom I'm a middle aged coot with the normal vision issues

However, with Firefox just Ctrl + to zoom in

Yes, that fixed it. Now I have a very small box with a plus sign that links to the first page of the thread.

    Thanks for the quick fix.

want wide, zoom (Ctrl + Scroll up). It comes out like school for the blind but with my current glasses that isn't a bad thing

Anyone else notice the Forum spy app now lags behind a bit?
