Silver price had a couple of spikes centered on 1980 and 2011.

Numismatics is pretty hard core. Big spread between shops' buy and sell prices.

But value plays are possible, for example all mints from a year or span of years at EF grade. In addition, ebay has a lot of, shall we say, unsophisticated participants.

St. Gaudens' gold double eagle. That was a coin. It'd almost be worth one's effort to counterfeit some of those beauties. By which I presume that it has not happened...

Unfortunately it is geopolitical nausea that makes silver and gold fly. Don't wish for that.

Best silver story was Oak Ridge buying for shhhh! Manhattan project. Very well known; needs no retelling here.

If I understand, that comment means

BTC will in future become more important,
Miners will snag much of ?22 millions BTC?
    Thence to rule the future.

Or not. but this is thread cross talk and inefficient chirping.

There is a counterfeit that is actually worth some on its own. Known as the Omega double eagle, the counterfeiting was perfect, and the only give away was a tiny omega symbol included in the counterfeit's design.

Copper is so '7000 BC'. Persists in electrical wiring (but long distance is via aluminum? I call for assistance!).

Future expanded E-vehicle fleet may be 100 millions times 20 kilos Cu each. Two million tons. Annual global copper mining produces ~4 million tons.

If you consider it's purchasing power then with its value now; that's one helluva depreciation for you!

Yes, the long distance power lines are aluminum. Cost and/or weight could be why for it over copper.

Street-level power distribution was copper in Puerto Rico. Hurricane brought it down in 1998 and much wire disappeared into recycling system, Thus it could not just be spliced back into place. Slowed down recovery. Don't know if copper was also used in replacement, that came down in 2017.
