Yup. I'd been reading about the C for a week or so now and eyeing the prices at the gas station across the street. My local dealership had 4 C's in stock when I started looking, two disappeared over the weekend so I figured I'd better go down and check it out before the rest vanished.

I pulled on to the lot and saw a grey PC3 sitting in a display spot out front. I remember thinking that the pics I'd seen online didn't do the real thing justice. The three on the lot had a pinstripe, door protectors and guards installed which I thought made it look even cooler. Fortunately for me since I wasn't fully up to speed on all the tech, I got a salesman who was a real "Prius guy".. he knew everything about the line inside and out. He gave me a great walkthrough of the functionality available (which is damn impressive, IMO).. converted me to an MPG junkie practically on the spot. on the test drive I found myself already trying to regulate the fuel consumption, I was hooked LOL

Get back to the showroom and I couldn't resist. Made the deal and drove away. I LOVE this thing. My morning commute to work was a blast.. silly as it sounds, managing my MPG feels like playing a video game! There's a stretch of rural road I drive through every day on my way to and from work with a 25 MPH limit and it amused me to no end that I was able to cruise almost the entire thing on electric alone.. how awesome is that?? This car is amazing.

So I have a lot to learn still. Going to browse around here and read up :) anyone have any cool tips to share with a Prius newbie?

Congrats. Great story benj. It's good to hear that there are still salesmen who really do their job to teach you everything about the car.

Isn't that the truth. Driving is now a fun game to see how much mileage you can get. So much more involved in driving. Kind of a back to the future deal.

    Congrats! You got the Grey?
That was my pick, but I settled for a Super White after seeing 2/3 go
at the dealership in 2 days, so I went in the next day.
Even the other toyota dealers I was calling said many were already on the waiting list...
fudge the waiting list...I got mine.

Yeah, it is fun...more than I would of thought.
And no worries on the gas price...well sorta!

Certainly did! I would have gone for either that or the blue and my dealer had no blue ones inbound so I jumped on the grey. Salesman said they had been moving fast and there was a waiting list for Fours. Aside from the Three i bought all they had left was a black Two. Glad I pulled the trigger :)

Funny thing the sales guy said to me during my test drive when I asked about how many they'd sold so far, he said "when gas prices spike 40-50 cents, everyone becomes a Prius shopper". I got a laugh out of that.

LOL I kinda know what you're saying. I can see an Exxon station from my bedroom window and the $3.89 for regular doesn't look so intimidating now knowing I won't need to go there for a couple weeks.

    Nice!

    These are nicely designed, right?

I always liked the yaris designed, but never thought the fuel economy was up to par, so never jumped on one.

Now we got the best of both!
    AT AN IRRESISTIBLE PRICE!

    Congrats again.

Hell yes they are! Flies in the face of traditional hybrid designs (at least in the states). It really is the best of both fuel economy and modern, aggressive styling. The fact that it's a Prius is almost contradictory to the look of it! I can see Toyota selling a TON of these things with the great pricing. Even the higher end models are more than reasonable (IMO).

I just wonder if this is a marketing flaw or technique.

If they sell 100k+ of these in the first few months, just think how many
will buy them over the next year or few.

I really think they have the price low, just to get them on the streets
then they will raise the price due to demand/supply.

I really want to see if they can also make a sport or more sporty version.
One that may get less mpg, but can tear it up...just so it captures more folks.
I still have yet to test drive a Camry Hybrid, but I really want to.

Current US monthly supply is less than 6,000. They'd have to adjust to sell more.

No, the price is low because they've downsized the costly components and it's smaller and the price will remain like this because this is drawing in new buyers for the future.

But, they might not lower prices if the Yen weakens.

First of all, congrats! Secondly, the video game experience is something I relate to 100%. Prior to being an owner, I would never imagined driving a car slow and steady could be so much fun. Toyota could further capitalize on the techy crowd by promoting this aspect. It's not something people know about and it's so addictive!

    Congratulations! She is beautiful.

Ha! I went to "just test drive" myself after reading about the car for a month and a half. Finally the local dealers had them in stock. I emailed them and went with the one that was the least assertive and out going but more matter of fact.

Bought my C that night! I got a great deal on the car and my trade, so it was really a no brainer. Toyota of Lake City here in Seattle btw. :)

Glad you love it too! I also treat it like a video game...I am of that age.
