That could have been a picture of my car. Those are the STOCK rims on a Touring version Prius with the hubcaps removed. It happens that the wheels perfectly match a magnetic grey Prius.

Could it be they expected to sell more magnetic grey Prius than they did so used the excess paint to paint the touring rims? :p :D

    (Joke)

I actually quite like the colour but couldn't resist.

    Or,
Could it be they thought the most popular color would be Magnetic Grey, so they painted the rims to match the largest number of cars?

Actually, I expect they thought that the portions of the wheel that show through the wheel covers should be dark, and the grey hides brake dust nicely.

Do you think removing the plastic rims will affect your gas mileage?? I like the look without but dealer said they understand the rims are there to help with the mileage. I would also think the plastic would protect the wheel in adverse weather.

These are the stock rims that came on my 2004.

Have any like this shown up in NA?
(I've been looking through photos posted on PC but haven't seen any)

Why thank you! I quite like it too. I will say that the Prius I nearly bought was black (it was purchased by someone else quicker off the mark than I), so maybe we have similar tastes... B)

I've never seen those before. They are nice. A bit of an AMG Mercedes look.
