What brand tires do you have on your Gen5?

have you found an option yet? I think the only other option is buying some 17 inch wheels with snow tires but I’m not sure of the bolt pattern in the offset do you know what it is by chance?

 

I read somewhere that the Michelins are quieter than the Toyos. Has anyone compared both?

I'm going for Nokian Hakkapeliitta 10 (studded), 215/55R17, on the alternative 17" alloys that Toyota are offering as an option here.

Not a huge fan of black wheels, but maybe they'll grow on me. Maybe it's good to change outfits with the season?

The Toyota rims are 6.5" wide with 40mm offset, using 5x114.3 bolt pattern. Like the tyres, they're narrow rims, and you'd probably end up with something wider.

 

I have the 17" Toyo's on my LE.....pretty noisy on the highway...

 

I have the Toyo's on mine. Quieter then the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S I had on my previous car but wet and dry handling are nowhere near as good. When I change wheels I hope to move to a Michelin Pilot Sport all season.

 

I used to have Michelin Pilot Sport 4S's on my '16 GTI- I wouldn't get any other tire than that; excellent wet/dry handling- don't think I would spend the $$$ for that same tire if they offered it on the Prius "17's

 

I came from a 2018 GTI with the Pilot Sport 4S, the tire absolutely transformed that car.

 

Not available on Gen 5, but I really like the Dunlop Enasave 01 A/S tires on my Gen 4 Prius Prime—great handling and fuel economy. I didn't like the Toyo NanoEnergy A41 tires on my previous Gen 4 Prius Prime.

 

I test drove two 2023 XLEs. One with Michelins and then a week later one with Toyos. The Toyos are definitely a noisier, slightly rougher ride.

 

Are you going to trade in for a Gen 5, Daisy, or will you fix your Gen 2?

 

I’m waiting for the next Gen 5 silver XLE AWD and hoping to manifest Michelin tires again but not holding my breath! : ) Nothing in Sept allocation. I’d be happy with 2024 but need to take the next one that shows up. I’m guessing with Murphy’s law I’ll end up with the last 2023 on the production line. Ha!

 

2023-model-year production stopped sometime earlier in September. They have already been making the 2024 model year for a few weeks now. Unless you were allocated a 2023 model year already, you will get a 2024 model year.

 

It is possible that the production slowed with the transition to the 2024 model year; so, between now and mid-November, few Gen 5 Priuses and Prius Primes may arrive, as it takes two months for the cars to make it to the US dealers. So, Daisy, you will probably not get yours until late 2023 or early 2024.

 

Interesting because the website still says 2023. I guess I missed the inside scoop on here. Only disadvantage will be the 2024 price. I might have to make up the difference because I already collected the funding based on 2023. Oh well…even though it’s probably the identical car it sounds better to have second year of production. Time will tell.

I really need to find good seat covers. Can’t stand the stress of getting into a new car after gardening or studio work. I often change my clothes before getting into the car but don’t want the stress of damaging the Softex. Driving gloves too. Ha! Will miss that nice patina on my beautiful leather steering wheel.

 

The Canadian website has had the 2024 for a while but not the US site. Also, it was verified on Toyota Techinfo that the 2023–2024 production switch happened in September.

Since the 2024 models won't arrive before late October or early November, the website may not be updated for a few more weeks.

I have scotchguard spray that I'll have to use two coats over a couple of days...have towait until the first coat dries, so will need to do it over a couple of days when I'm not driving

 

Wish I could use a spray but I have chemical sensitivities. The new car odors are going to be more than enough to deal with. I’ll be driving the car with the windows open for a while. : }

 

Mine is a 2023… in some ways would have preferred 2nd model year production. Say what you will about Toyota quality, Consumer Reports results suggest that1st year production of ANY car is more likely to have glitches.
